Fade Margin

A dB safety buffer subtracted from the link budget before computing range. It accounts for degradation the free-space model can't predict.

• Raise it when flying near trees, buildings, or RF interference — or any time reliable link matters more than maximum distance.
• Lower it only in open, interference-free conditions to approach the theoretical ceiling.

Use the environment buttons for sensible defaults: Open (7 dB), Suburban (12 dB), Treed (18 dB), Urban (25 dB). Drag the slider for fine-tuning.

Aircraft Altitude AGL

Height above ground level. Used for line-of-sight calculations against terrain. Higher altitudes clear more obstructions.

Most fixed-wing FPV happens between 100–500 ft AGL. The default of 200 ft is reasonable for most cases. In the US, FAA regulations prohibit flying above 400 ft AGL in uncontrolled airspace — always fly within legal limits and be aware of local rules.
